Test scores, summer jobs, web updates, more college-related stuff

6.26.2004

11:17 PM

I'm content with my ACT score: a 32 out of 36, which comes out to be a 1420 equiv. on the SAT I scale, which was my goal. I need to improve on the Math IIc score though. That's going to be fun fun fun.

I've been working at the Alameda County Fair. It's okay, not as good as I hoped it to be. Please, PLEASE come and visit me. I would SO appreciate it if you did. It'll be lots of fun. Let me know if you're coming too so I can look for you (it's easier that way than you looking for me). Here's my schedule and the headliners for that evening:

sun: 12-6 (Los Rieleros del Norte)
mon: off (ZOEgirl)
tue: 11-6 (Paul Revere and the Raiders)
wed: 11-6 (Bo Diddley)
thu: off (Tower of Power)
fri: 9:30-3 (Paul Rodriguez)
sat: 10-6 (The Spinners)
sun: 10-7 (Red, White, and Blues)
mon: 11-7 (Cowboy Crush)
tue: 11-7 (War)
wed: off (Crystal Gayle)
thu: off (OC Supertones)
fri: 10-7 (Night Ranger)
sat: 11-7 (ConFunkShun)
sun: 11-7 (Darryl Worley)

If i'm off the day you come, let me know. I can get in for free so I can still meet. Again, nothing makes my day at fair like seeing someone I know. It happens very rarely these days.

CBM CAMP WEBSITE IS UP!!!! Go to
http://www.chinesebiblemission.org/cbmcamp

I've been thinking about it, and I'm thinking more and more of not going for a Comp. Eng. major next year. I'm thinking of going Biomed. Eng. it sounds like a fun major.

Hope to see you at fair this week!

WHO???

6.23.2004

12:17 PM

I ended up working less than 3 hours yesterday, earning a net sum of less than $25.50. I don't have any work today, and it's uncertain whether I go to work tomorrow either.

I got other work to do today anyways, such as taking a test, reading through the 2nd 20-page chapter in AP Bio, doing SOMETHING for AP lit.

I finally finished the CBM camp page. It's basically a reproduction of the camp brochure with an old-school 30 y.o. camp pic. It's fine for now, but I'm planning to get a general site up with some other CBM camp info.

Speaking of CBM, someone's xanga referred to the CBM site. I tried to see if it was anyone's xanga that I knew of, but it wasn't. Nothing bad about it, but I'm just curious WHO...

UPDATE (12:24 PM): nevermind, I found who. sort've obvious when i think about it. not telling who though.

UPDATE (11:13 PM): DANG, how SAD! A experienced geek like me scoring a 76% on a Windows XP quiz. SHEESH!

News

6.21.2004

6:35 PM

I'm back from Mexico. My $8 I had left in my wallet was spent on a pair of (f)oakleys, which is fine since I only need it for fair. I'll post some thoughts about my cruise later. On to the news:

Good news:
-Fair schedule is mostly good. A few requests need to be made, but it's better than I thought
-I'm getting so much free stuff from taking surveys it's so awesome. In just the last week, I've gotten a $15 check, a $3 check, and a free battery charger and batteries. I still also have a book and cereal, so that's cool too.
-I got my formal Scouting portrait done, so soon it'll be in the service center in San Leandro on the wall.
-Got acception to Las Po for the fall - conditionally. I need my transcript and hope that the class I want won't fill up.

Bad news:
-SAT II math score = really crappy, SAT II USH score = still crappy
-SOS hasn't turned how I had hoped. Enough about that though.
-Need to get a hold of a copy of Windows XP Brief and Internet Explorer 6 by Friday!!!!
-Dr. Unnasch resigned. So sad. I really liked Dr. U and hoped he would present me my diploma next summer. Can't say much more since Dr. U-haters might be reading this, but I feel we're falling into one of Satan's traps. Keep us in your prayers.

I WIN

6.12.2004

1:45 PM

ACT's were so easy. Any smart senior (or anyone who can't score on SAT's like me) should take the ACT at least once. Cheers to good times!

I'm leaving tomorrow for Mexico, and will be connected to the net in the middle of the Pacific solely for the purpose of completing the requirements for my online course, of course that is unless I win free internet for the week, which in that case I'll be posting again.

ETC.

6.05.2004

12:16 PM

Just got back from SAT II's. The Math IIc was a nightmare, at least the last 45% of it was. US History was pretty easy, I hope it'll be a good score. Maybe others will struggle on the Math IIc so the curve will go low, way low.

So now, I'm in the middle of two events with about 1 1/2 hours to recover. Mrs. Ruff gave us a take-home final to do so I've got a 3-page essay coming up. Also, I have to do another video for the final chapel on Monday, which is a pain since I basically have no guidelines on how to do it. Good thing is I only have 3 finals next week, only one everyday except for Tuesday, which I have none.

I've got a recitial coming up at 2 today which I don't want to go to at all, then Allen is having his Eagle COH, which should be exciting (but not as good as mine =)

Recalling the events of the week:

-I finally sold my guitar to Jeff for $130. Now I can buy my amp.

-Seniors attacked the juniors again, this time painting the cars and mixing up everyone's license plates. Some Soph's thought it would be smart to join in the pranks against juniors, after all the juniors (and a few sympathetic seniors) cleaned up the entire mess. They also thought it would be funny to write some negative, un-christian comments on everyone's car. So after cleaning my car 5th period, I come back afterschool to find it painted on in yellow paint again with " '05=GAY" on my windshield. Ok, 1st time was funny, second time was ok, but the third time just really ticked me off.

-Found out last night that I and my brother are the only ones qualified to be SOS pres. Seems that God may be calling me for another year on the council, despite my silent wishes not to.

-I got my AP summer work for 2 of my 3 AP classes next year. AP english we read 4 honkin' books and answer questions about them. AP bio we read 105 pages in a fat bio book and answer questions. AP calc i'm still not sure about yet and I'm hoping I don't get anymore because I'm going to die this summer. AP work is another item on my list that already includes cruise, work, vacation, camp, SAT prep, scholarship apps, and more busy randomness.

-Found out Friday that Mr. Anderson is leaving VCHS next year. He'll be teaching at a new charter school in Oakland. It's sort've sad, but it's great that he's finally able to fulfill his dream. Best wishes to him!

i need more of a life!

UPDATE 6/6:
- Recital was the usual, seemed like just about everyone messed up, a few were not so smooth, but I got through my piece without turning red or anything. left right after I finished.
- I got to Allen's COH on time, so he had me be his honor guard, had no clue what I was doing, but oh well. Found out Mr. Irwin is an honest-to-goodness Eagle scout too. It was a good COH, but not as good as mine of course =)
- Random chapel video is finished, need to write essay and study now
- I didn't get asked to run sound at baccalaureate this year. sort've frustrating esp. since i'm the head tech guy now. i wouldn't have been able to do it, but it would've been a considerate gesture anyways. sheesh, ppl these days.
